Tomorrow morning, I am scheduled to meet with my boss to go over my annual performance evaluation. I am not worried about our meeting, as my boss and I have a great working relationship and we meet regularly throughout the year to talk about performance and goals.
Our annual performance evaluation is tied to our pay raises at work. So, with that in mind, it is in our best interest to obtain the best evaluation possible to maximize our pay raise.
But this year, we were told that there would be no raises due to a tight budget year. Which means that it makes no different what our evaluation scores are on the evaluations.
So, there is no pressure tomorrow for me to receive a great evaluation. However, I consider myself a very self-motivated worker, and take great pride in my job, so I am still hoping to do well.
We are required to complete a self-evaluation in preparation for our real evaluation, and I sent mine to my boss yesterday. Interestingly enough, I have found over the past 8 years that my scores and my boss' scores are generally pretty close together.
I am confident things will go well, and will be glad to have the evaluation out of the way for another year!
