If you live in a colder climate, you probably have a snow brush/ice scraper for your car. These are great for freezing rain and for snow that has melted and refrozen after you have parked your car, but if all you are dealing with is a thin veil of fall or spring frost, they're terrible.
A plastic spackle knife is flexible, meaning it will conform to the shape of the window/windshield as you scrape, and it doesn't have the long handle and snowbrush that you don't need for this task. You can use it to scrape the frost off in far less time than it would take to melt off using your defroster, and won't put wear on your wipers.
