If emotions were candy and chocolate, I would be able to throw some serious competition Willy Wonka's way after the exhausting day we had today. Though they start with "fun," funerals are really not as fun as you want them to be.
There was a miniscule amount of hope that this would be a beautiful day encased in a crystal bubble, untouchable in its perfection, but what it ended up being was a day of truths which was more of a debridement after a trial by fire.
The good news about debridement is, once the pain is over, the healing can begin.
There was laughter, there was crying, there was a lot of head nodding as everyone shared their stories about what a ball buster my husband's cousin was, about how she could drive you insane with her embellishments, and how she was wonderfully passionate about everything she did making her a wonderful ally or a formidable foe. She was deeply respected, loved, and feared in equal amounts and it was so obvious that she would be missed for all of it.
